Reality TV star and rapper Laycon, whose real name is Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, has spoken about his personal journey toward self-discovery and the role inner peace has played in his life.
The ‘Fierce’ singer disclosed that after emerging as the winner of the Big Brother Naija reality show in 2020, he temporarily lost touch with his inner voice and did not reconnect with it until about a year later.
In a recent video broadcast titled Life With Laycon, the rapper explained that silence has been the constant element guiding his process of self-reflection and personal growth.
“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?” He asked.
“I have been there and I want to share a part of that experience with you. After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice and the first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest,” the rapper said.

“The voice kept asking me questions like, ‘Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this?
“Are you happy? Questions that made me want to sit alone with my thoughts. So, that’s what I did. From that conversation came a lot of necessary but uncomfortable truths and realisation about myself,” he added.
Laycon further explained that many people struggle with personal development because they avoid moments of silence and solitude.
According to him, although silence can feel uncomfortable, it is essential for genuine growth. He described it as a mirror that reflects a person’s life through their thoughts and gives them the opportunity to make necessary changes.
The rapper also encouraged his fans to embrace solitude and use self-reflection as a way to hold themselves accountable and better understand their lives.
