Veteran Nigerian musician Seyi Sodimu has weighed in on the influence of Afrobeats’ so-called Big 3, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy, describing each as powerful in different ways.

Speaking on a recent episode of the What I Know podcast hosted by Korty EO, alongside actress Shaffy Bello, the Love Me Jeje singer said the three stars command distinct forms of influence.

According to him, Wizkid possesses a unique kind of star power, Burna Boy’s strength lies mainly in music, while Davido’s influence extends far beyond the entertainment industry.

He argued that Davido’s popularity and public appeal are strong enough to secure him a political victory, unlike Burna Boy, whose influence, he said, is more limited to music.

“The [Afrobeats] Big 3, each one is doing it [music] for different reasons. Burna Boy has conquered the stage. And he is good. Wizkid is special. And Davido surpasses music.

“What do I mean by that? If Davido ran for governor today, he would win. But I don’t think Burna Boy could win as a governor,” he said.

This is not the first time Davido has been mentioned in political conversations. Last year, former Nigerian lawmaker Senator Ben Murray-Bruce predicted that the singer would one day become the governor of Osun State.

Currently, Davido’s uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, serves as the governor of the state.
