The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has commended officers of the Nigeria Formed Police Unit (NFPU) for their exceptional professionalism and dedication while serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
According to a statement released on Friday by the police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the officers, deployed from 16 October 2023 to 14 June 2025, have been reassigned to administrative and command duties at the AUSSOM Police/Mission Headquarters (PHQ/MHQ) in Mogadishu.
The commendation followed a letter dated 12 June 2025 from the AUSSOM Police Commissioner to the IGP, praising the officers for seamlessly transitioning from their roles as Formed Police Unit personnel to those of Individual Police Officers (IPOs) despite minimal induction training.
The Commissioner noted that the officers displayed high levels of intelligence, discipline, and adaptability, enabling them to effectively manage complex administrative and operational tasks at a time of strategic transition in Somalia.
