Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying she is not a member of the campaign structure.
Abraham’s clarification came shortly after her name appeared on a list released by the Lagos APC on Thursday, September 17, 2026. She was listed among 33 entertainment industry personalities under the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
NRTC reports that the list included several prominent actors and musicians, among them Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Yinka Quadri, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere, Adewale Ayuba, Osupa and Small Doctor. Toke Benson-Awoyinka was named director of the directorate, with Kosoko as co-director and Badmus as deputy director.
However, reacting to the publication of the list on her Instagram Story, Abraham said she had not accepted any position in the campaign council and asked members of the public to disregard her reported inclusion.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently, I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee.”

NRTC gathered that the actress did not explain how her name came to be included in the campaign council document. She subsequently clarified that she is not a member of the council and urged the public to disregard her reported inclusion.

The development came against the background of Abraham’s previous involvement in partisan politics. During the 2023 presidential election, she publicly supported Bola Tinubu, then the APC presidential candidate. Her political position attracted considerable criticism on social media, including calls for some brands associated with her to sever ties with her.

The controversy surrounding her political involvement continued after the election, including disputes over social media comments and allegations directed at the actress and her family. Abraham subsequently maintained that she was entitled to pursue legal or official channels against what she considered defamatory or abusive content.
Her latest statement therefore marks a clear distinction between her previous political involvement and her current position. Rather than accepting the role announced by the Lagos APC, Abraham has publicly stated that she intends to remain outside political campaigning.
The Lagos APC campaign council was scheduled for formal inauguration on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja. The wider council lists Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as chairman and Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as deputy chairman.
