Instagram has introduced some new features for DM to bring changes and ease in messaging and connecting with friends. New features will be the increased number of stickers available for use, the possibility to set specific nicknames for friends, and the option to easily share locations.

There are also many new stickers in the direct messages adding 17 new sticker packs with more than 300 stickers inclusive. There is also a new ‘star’ feature that allows clients to mark their most commonly used stickers, including those that friends have created or those produced from images in the app. It makes the stickers searchable and also searchable which in turn makes the chats the users have more lively and full of graphics.

Recently, Instagram introduced an update that allows people to use nicknames in direct messages (DMs). In a chat, one can select own avatars and, if permitted by the admin, create pick-up names for anyone as well as for one’s self. This feature makes identifications of persons in the group chats a bit straightforward and enables users to apply their preferred names or other quirks. These nicknames exist only in that chat, and the added public username will not be altered. Also, users can decide who can create or change a nickname.

Instagram is also making it easier for people to meet up in real life by adding location sharing to their direct messages. Users can share their live location for up to an hour or pin a specific place on a map. This feature is for those who want to coordinate group events and meetings or just to help navigate busy areas.

To keep things private, the live location can only be seen by people in the same DM conversation and can’t be shared with anyone else. This feature is turned off by default, but users sharing their location will have a constant reminder in the chat until the hour is up. This feature is only available in certain regions, but it will be rolled out more widely in the future.
