Iran’s World Cup preparations have been thrown into turmoil after a shocking ticket allocation reversal. Just days before kickoff, their supporters have been left stranded.
The national federation confirmed that fan tickets for group matches have been revoked unexpectedly. This decision affects fixtures in Los Angeles and Seattle.
Iran had already begun distributing its allocated tickets under FIFA regulations. Each nation typically receives eight percent of match tickets for supporters.
“Depriving Iranian supporters… is an action contrary to the spirit of governing international competitions,” the federation stated.
Many fans had already arranged travel plans, expecting to attend the tournament. Now, uncertainty surrounds their ability to support the team in person.
“This development raises serious questions about the interference of non-sporting and political considerations,” the statement continued.
Ticket dispute deepens amid political tensions and travel restrictions
The controversy adds to a series of complications surrounding Iran’s World Cup involvement. Ongoing geopolitical tensions have repeatedly disrupted their plans.

Earlier, the team relocated its training base from Arizona to Tijuana, citing hosting challenges. Additionally, strict visa rules require matchday travel into the United States.

Reports also emerged that several backroom staff members were denied entry visas. These officials were described as “integral” to the team’s operations.
The federation had outlined conditions for participation, including clearance for certain personnel. However, US authorities signaled restrictions linked to security concerns.
