‘It was a struggle to record the album” — Tiwa Savage reflects on making music while pregnant

Tiwa Savage has shared how being pregnant impacted her music, particularly during the recording of her R.E.D album.

Speaking during an appearance on Afrobeats Intelligence, the award-winning singer recounted how the experience affected her ability to hit certain notes, forcing her to adjust some of the songs on the project.

“I was pregnant when I recorded R.E.D. I would be in the studio crying with my big belly. It was a struggle to record the album,” she said.

Savage explained that she had to modify the vocal arrangement of the album to accommodate the changes in her voice during pregnancy.

“I changed the key of some of the songs in the album because being pregnant affected how I could hit some notes,” she added.

As the first artiste in Mavin Records to have a child, Savage also spoke about the kind of support she received from her team, especially Don Jazzy, during that period.

“I was the first person to have a baby in Mavin, so whenever they notice my energy is going down, Jazzy will tell them to get me my cravings, which are eggs and bread,” she recounted.
