Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr, born Sarah Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, has officially stepped into the world of acting, making her debut in Children of Blood and Bone, a screen adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s internationally acclaimed fantasy novel.
Best known for her hit song “Bloody Samaritan”, the singer joins a star-studded cast that includes globally recognized talents like Idris Elba, Viola Davis, and Cynthia Erivo.
Speaking in an interview on CBS Mornings, Ayra opened up about her journey to the screen, revealing that acting had always been a dream she was too nervous to pursue.
“I’ve always been shy when it comes to acting, but this is the first time in my life that I’ve been on camera and I’m not singing,” she said.
Reflecting on the filming experience, she said she drew inspiration not only from veteran actors but also from the younger cast members.

“I learned so much from everybody on set, not even just the greats—even like just the actors on set, the 16-year-olds, the 14-year-olds on set—it was so inspiring just watching them.”

“Working with actors of that calibre taught me so much. It wasn’t just fun—it was transformational,” she said.
