“You’re not depressed, you need 20 million naira,” an X user claimed in a now-viral post.

His reaction sparked conversations on social media, with many users pointing out that depression can also be caused by factors beyond financial struggles, including anxiety, emotional trauma and the loss of loved ones.
Others, however, argued that financial hardship remains one of the biggest triggers of depression for many people, insisting that access to money would solve a large percentage of emotional stress linked to survival and daily living challenges.
