The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has opened up an investigation into several complaints from candidates following the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
The results were made public last Friday, but shortly after, many candidates across Nigeria—particularly in some states—raised concerns about the outcome.
JAMB said it has noticed the growing number of complaints and is taking steps to look into them.
To address the situation, the board has decided to begin its yearly review of the entire examination process earlier than usual.
This review normally takes place months after the exams but is now being fast-tracked because of the current concerns.
The board explained that the review would cover all three major stages of the exam: registration, the test itself, and the result announcement.
It will focus on spotting any possible technical errors that may have affected the process.
JAMB is also working with professionals from different fields to ensure that any problem is discovered and fixed.
These include experts in computing, top officials from universities, education researchers, and measurement specialists.
Some of the complaints point to results that candidates believe do not reflect what they wrote during the exam.
Many of them have voiced their dissatisfaction online and are asking the board to recheck the results.
JAMB has said that if the investigation shows that there were technical faults, the affected candidates will be given another chance to write the exam.
The board noted that it has a history of rescheduling tests when needed and is ready to take similar steps if necessary.
For now, the board is carefully going through each complaint to understand what went wrong.
JAMB also said it remains committed to ensuring that the UTME process is fair for all candidates.
