Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq scored his first goal for new club Real Sociedad in his debut match against Atlético Madrid.
The 25-year-old joined Sociedad on transfer deadline day from newly promoted outfit Almeria. He was signed for €20m as a replacement for Aleksandar Isak, who joined Newcastle.
Former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata opened scoring in the fifth minute of the encounter at the Reale Arena. It was a tense match that saw six players cautioned in the first half alone, with Atlético having four players booked.
The home side threatened a few times but Los Colchoneros stood firm. However, their defence was soon to be breached ten minutes into the second half.
Sadiq, who came off the bench to replace Alexander Sørloth in the 46th minute, netted the equaliser for Real Sociedad. His first goal for Sociedad was assisted by 18-year-old forward Momo Cho. It was the Nigerian’s debut game and he has now scored three goals in four league games this season.

He had scored twice in three outings for Almeria before joining Imanol Alguacil’s side.
Goalscorer for the visiting team, Morata was replaced by forward Ángel Correa eleven minutes to the end of the encounter.
With the result, Real Sociedad are currently eighth on the La Liga standings. The team has a total of seven points following two wins, one draw and one loss.
Meanwhile, in another La Liga encounter on Saturday, Barcelona trounced Sevilla 3-0 away from home.
New signings Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski scored before defender Eric Garcia completed the rout for the Catalans.
At the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid were 2-1 victors over Real Betis. Vinicius Junior drew the first blood before Betis found their way back into the game via a Sergio Canales’ goal.
Exciting young forward Rodrygo got the match winner five minutes past the hour mark with a good finish.
