In a move to bolster inclusivity and accessibility in urban development, the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has partnered with the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Agency (LASPPPA) to ensure that physical infrastructure across the state is accessible to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
During a recent visit to the LASPPPA headquarters in Ikeja, LASODA General Manager, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, engaged with officials to advance strategic discussions on implementing disability-inclusive policies within the state’s physical planning framework.
Oyetunde-Lawal highlighted the importance of ensuring that future developments in Lagos are designed with accessibility at their core.
“This partnership seeks to ensure that new infrastructure includes features such as ramps, designated routes, and other accessible elements to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities,” she said.

She also emphasised the need for planning and permitting processes to align with existing legal and regulatory frameworks that promote inclusion, adding that this initiative would help guarantee equitable access to public spaces and services for all residents.
Responding, LASPPPA General Manager, Kehinde Osinaike, expressed optimism about the collaboration.
He affirmed the agency’s commitment to integrating accessibility standards and guidelines into its planning processes, promising that LASPPPA would actively monitor compliance and penalise non-adherence to accessibility regulations.
“This partnership with LASODA is a step towards creating a more inclusive and accessible Lagos for every citizen,” Osinaike noted.
