The Oyo State Government has declared a daily 16-hour curfew across 10 specific local government areas.
According to an official memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the restriction on movement was approved by Governor Seyi Makinde and takes effect starting Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
The security measure will operate daily between the hours of 4:00 PM and 8:00 AM, and it is scheduled to last for a duration of 48 hours in the first instance.

This directive specifically targets local government jurisdictions that share borders with the Old Oyo National Park.

The local government areas mandated to comply with the curfew include Oriire with its headquarters at Ikoyi-Ile, Oorelope with its headquarters at Igboho, and Irepo with its headquarters at Kisi.
Also affected by the order are Saki West with its headquarters in Saki, Saki East with its headquarters in Ago-Amodu, and Atisbo with its headquarters in Tede.
The remaining administrative regions under the restriction are Itesiwaju with its headquarters at Otu, Iseyin with its headquarters at Iseyin, Olorunsogo with its headquarters at Igbeti, and Atiba with its headquarters at Offa-Meta.

The official directive outlining these details was signed and released on June 23, 2026, by Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, who serves as the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Oyo State.
