The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that it will hold its 81st Annual General Assembly in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday, 27 September 2025.
Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde will open the congress, and the assembly will gather representatives from all 36 state football associations, the Federal Capital Territory. This includes the club officials, coaches, and other stakeholders.
Discussions will cover governance reforms, financial reports, grassroots development, and preparations for upcoming international competitions.
Stakeholders will also review the performances of national teams and debate ways to boost youth football, women’s football, and refereeing standards.

The choice of Ibadan as host reflects the NFF’s tradition of rotating assemblies across Nigeria to ensure inclusivity and regional engagement in football policy.
Governor Makinde’s involvement testifies Oyo State’s commitment to sports. Ibadan, home to Shooting Stars, has long been a hub of Nigerian football culture and infrastructure.
The 81st congress follows last year’s assembly, which focused on refereeing improvements and women’s football. This year’s gathering is expected to build on those efforts.
Outcomes from the Ibadan meeting could change Nigeria’s football plans for the next year.
