Samuel Chukwueze delivered another electric performance for Fulham, and Marco Silva wasted no time praising the winger’s growing influence. The Nigerian netted a brace in Fulham’s thrilling 5-4 loss to Manchester City at Craven Cottage, yet his display stole significant attention.
He had also claimed the Man of the Match award days earlier in the 2-1 win over Tottenham. Silva admitted that Chukwueze’s momentum is already transforming Fulham’s attacking edge. “He’s already making an impact,” the Fulham boss said. “Last Saturday, he did it again, and today he showed the same level.”
The coach explained their decision to ease him in carefully. “From the physical point of view, we had to manage him,” Silva noted. “He played almost 90 minutes against Tottenham, so we felt the need to start him on the bench.”
Even so, the effect was immediate once he stepped on. “The impact was massive from him again,” Silva continued. He however mentioned others who impressed, stressing that “Emile Smith-Rowe had a very good game and is improving.”

Chukwueze is expected to join Nigeria soon for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) preparations. His versatility has been crucial for Fulham, especially during an intense run of fixtures. Silva pointed out that flexibility, saying, “Chukwu is just showing his quality. He has quality on the right and on the left.”
The Portuguese manager insisted the winger’s decision-making is improving rapidly. “He can make the right decisions as well. He’s getting better and better,” Silva stated. He also expressed frustration at losing him again to international commitments. “Unfortunately, we’re going to lose him in 15 days’ time like it happened three times in the last months,” he added.
However, Silva remained hopeful about Fulham’s upcoming fixtures. He stressed that the club must maximise the remaining days. “It is what it is, and till then we have to get the best from him,” he said. “Let’s hope we can do it on Sunday again.”
Chukwueze’s form arrives at a crucial moment for Fulham, who continue to reshape their attacking structure. His sharpness, confidence, and growing influence offer Silva a reliable spark before the winger departs for national duty. Fellow Nigerian Alex iwobi also scored during the encounter.
