Having represented PSV, Manchester United, Lyon, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid before his move to Brazil, the forward has shown remarkable resilience and longevity at the top level.
Since debuting for the Netherlands in 2013 against Turkey, Depay has been a consistent performer. His first international goal coming at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil against Australia. Over a decade later, he has transformed from a promising youngster into the country’s most prolific scorer.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands’ win places them at the top of Group G with 10 points from four matches. Lithuania, despite being ranked 143rd in the world, produced a gutsy display and became the lowest-ranked nation ever to score against the Dutch.
As the road to 2026 continues, Depay’s goals will remain central to the Netherlands’ ambitions.
