Microsoft’s Copilot has stalled at around 20M weekly users, far behind ChatGPT, which has reached up to 400M, according to the Newcomer newsletter.

Microsoft’s chief financial officer Amy Hood presented data during an annual executive meeting in March, according to Newcomer’s report which triggers doubts about Microsoft’s artificial intelligence transition.

The Copilot service, which Microsoft operates with OpenAI models, functions similarly to ChatGPT but receives less interest from users.

Microsoft incorporated Copilot across Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and the Edge browser, yet has not noticed any noticeable increase in the number of users.

Microsoft pursued acquisition of Inflection AI and its team led by Mustafa Suleyman, because they wanted to develop Copilot better and reduce their dependence on OpenAI while creating a genuine consumer version of their assistant.

Under his management as Microsoft AI CEO, Suleyman redesigned Copilot, along with introducing website-based AI action capabilities to users.

The early embodiment of this vision appears disjointed from Windows users,s along with other audiences in the market.

Microsoft dedicated large financial resources to OpenAI for researching while simultaneously securing particular model access to challenge Google in this field.

Since its initial release, ChatGPT appeared to be the first AI product that successfully convinced people to turn into AI users.

Users initially experimented with the ChatGPT AI tool instead of the new Copilot feature since they had not received sufficient information to consider adopting it.
