Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami CF has taken the rare step of naming a stadium stand after Argentine legend Lionel Messi.
At 38, Messi remains central to the club’s identity and success. Since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain, his impact has been immense.
He holds both the goal and assist records for the Florida side. That dominance has elevated the club’s profile globally.
“Traditionally, tributes look to the past. They are built from nostalgia. From memory. This one is different,” the club stated that this honour celebrates the present, not history.

“From what is happening right now. From what you feel every time Leo steps on to the pitch,” the club statement further stated.

The 26,700-capacity Nu Stadium will host its first match soon and fans will witness history as the Messi stand becomes a landmark.

Messi’s influence extends beyond silverware and statistics. His arrival, backed by co-owner David Beckham, has transformed the MLS landscape.
“Recognising someone is not always about closing a chapter. Sometimes it is about realising you are witnessing something unique.”
This is not his first such honour. His boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys also paid tribute recently.
Messi’s legacy is not waiting for retirement. It is being written, celebrated, and witnessed live.
