Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has shared the story behind her well-known nickname, Omosexy.
She made this known during an interview on Naija FM, where she spoke about how the name started and who gave it to her.
According to the actress, the nickname did not come from fans or colleagues in the movie industry. She said it was her husband, Captain Matthew Ekeinde, who gave her the name.
Omotola explained that at the time, her husband bought her a Lincoln Navigator as a gift. She said he went further to customise the car’s plate number by writing the name Omosexy on it. That was how the name began and later became popular among her fans and in the entertainment industry.

She replied: “Na my honey boy give me that name…e buy me one Lincoln Navigator that time..e put am for the plate number, you know, him write am there.”
Over the years, the name Omosexy has remained strongly linked to Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, becoming part of her brand both in Nollywood and beyond.
