National Grid suffers another collapse on December 29

Nigeria’s national electricity grid collapsed on Monday afternoon, December 29, 2025, reducing power supply nationwide to near zero levels.

Distribution load data at 3:12 pm showed only 50 megawatts reaching consumers across the country.

Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company received 30 MW, while Abuja Electricity Distribution Company got 20 MW.

All other operators, including Benin, Eko, Enugu, Ikeja, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Yola DisCos, recorded zero megawatts allocation.

The outage left homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure without adequate electricity.

Restoration efforts by the Nigerian National Grid remained ongoing as of Monday evening.
