NDLEA launches e-portal for drug test, visa clearance

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has unveiled an electronic system to automate the processing of drug integrity tests and visa clearance certificates nationwide.

The new platform, known as the Drug Integrity Test and Visa E-Administration System (DITViCAS), was launched in Abuja on October 21. It is designed to eliminate manual verification, curb delays, and enhance transparency in the agency’s certification process.

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), said the system represents a major shift in Nigeria’s anti-drug operations and marks the end of manual clearance procedures.

Applicants can now complete the process online by visiting www.drugandvisa.ndlea.gov.ng, creating an account, selecting the required service, and booking an appointment at any accredited centre. The platform automatically generates certificates within three days of verification.

Private medical facilities can also register as accredited centres, enabling applicants to take drug tests at convenient locations and times.

Marwa stated that the service will soon be extended to tertiary institutions to strengthen NDLEA’s campaign against drug abuse among youths. He clarified that the initiative aims at early detection and support, not punishment, adding that rehabilitation and counselling services remain available for those who test positive.

He said the system also enhances background checks to prevent drug traffickers from exploiting travel procedures, while supporting safer communities, workplaces, and national institutions.
