MTN Nigeria will shut down 101 network sites across parts of Adamawa, Borno, and Kano States on Saturday, October 25, 2025, to carry out scheduled network maintenance.
The two-hour exercise, set between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., will affect services on 2G, 3G, 4G, and 10 enterprise connections due to the unprotected nature of the fibre route.
According to the company, the maintenance involves a fibre cutover on a newly relocated cable segment between AFCOT and Bawo Village, replacing damaged spans and reducing multiple joints that have weakened optical performance.

Affected areas include Nasarawa in Kano; Girei, Song, Hong, Fufore, Mubi North, Mubi South, Michika, Maiha, Gombi, Madagali, Chibok, and Yola North in Adamawa; as well as Askira/Uba and Shani in Borno State.
MTN said the intervention is part of its long-term effort to strengthen network reliability in northern Nigeria and follows a similar restoration exercise completed in August along the same fibre route.
The company expressed regret over the temporary disruption, assuring customers of improved connectivity once the maintenance is completed.
The move comes amid industry-wide concerns over frequent fibre cuts. According to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), telecom operators now record an average of 1,100 fibre cuts weekly nationwide, prompting new protective measures under the Cybersecurity Act.
