The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has imposed a ₦766.2 million fine on MultiChoice Nigeria.
The sanction follows findings that the company violated the Nigeria Data Protection Act during its data processing operations.
According to the NDPC, MultiChoice failed to secure users’ consent adequately and lacked appropriate data privacy controls.
The commission’s investigation revealed instances of personal data misuse, prompting immediate regulatory enforcement to uphold citizens’ privacy rights.
The penalty is part of Nigeria’s broader effort to enforce digital rights and ensure data accountability in the private sector.
