NGF mourns Adebanjo, Clark

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of two revered statesmen, Ayo Adebanjo and Edwin Clark.

In a statement signed by NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the forum described their deaths as a significant loss to Nigeria’s intellectual and political landscape.

Adebanjo and Clark, both nonagenarians, were known for their unwavering commitment to national discourse, democracy, and constitutional development.

They played pivotal roles in shaping Nigeria’s federal structure, particularly in advocating for resource control and the rights of ethnic minorities.

“Their passing marks a huge depletion in the ranks of outstanding voices who were never afraid to offer their views on issues of national importance,” Abdulrazaq noted.

The NGF extended its condolences to the people and governments of the South-West and South-South regions, particularly Ogun and Delta States, as well as the families of the deceased.

The forum also prayed for the repose of their souls, emphasising that their legacies would endure for generations to come.

Adebanjo and Clark were respected for their contributions to Nigeria’s political evolution, and their influence will continue to shape national conversations long after their demise.

Adebanjo passed away peacefully at his Lekki residence in Lagos State on Friday, February 14 while Clark died on Tuesday.

Adebanjo was 96 while Clark was 97.
