Notable Kannywood Celebs: Sarki Ali Nuhu 


The first thing that comes to one’s mind when discussing Kannywood is Ali Nuhu. Ali Nuhu is a Nigerian actor, director, producer, scriptwriter and dancer. He was born on 15 March, 1974. Thus, he is often referred to as Sarki which translates to “king” by the media. He is arguably the most successful actor in the Kannywood film industry.

Ali Nuhu Mohammed is also widely known for his versatility in acting. It is beyond superb how he manages to embody every single character whose role he is assigned. He was also one of the first, if not the first, Kannywood actor(s) to venture into Nollywood. He has previously been described as the most successful Hausa film star in the world. Currently, Ali Nuhu has starred in more than 500 films. He has also featured in numerous advertisements.

Ali Nuhu was born in Gombe State. His father was from Balanga local government area of Gombe State. He spent his formative years between Plateau and Kano. He studied geography in University of Jos. Later, he attended University of Southern California for a course in film production.

Career

Ali Nuhu made his acting debut in 1999 in a film titled, Abin Sirri NeSangaya, the film that blew him to fame, became one of the highest grossing Hausa films at the time.

Ali Nuhu remains one of the most influential Kannywood actors of all time. He has two kids, whom were previously actors. He lives in Kano, Nigeria with his family.
