NPFL condemns stadium violence in Pillars clash against Shooting Stars, vows swift punishment for offenders

NPFL condemns violence in Kano after Pillars vs Shooting Stars clash, vows strong sanctions once reports are reviewed.

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has strongly condemned the violent scenes that erupted at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano following Sunday’s 1–1 draw between Pillars and Shooting Stars.

In a statement released late Sunday, the league’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, described the incident as “unacceptable and deeply regrettable.” He then assured that swift and decisive sanctions will follow once official reports are reviewed.

“We condemn in the strongest terms any act of violence, intimidation, or misconduct directed at players, match officials, or fans,” Owumi stated.

Owumi stressed that the league would not tolerate actions capable of undermining the integrity of Nigerian football. He added that the incident was being treated with utmost seriousness.

“Appropriate actions will follow upon review of the full reports from the Match Commissioner and Referees,” he added.
