Entertainment: Jumoke George’s daughter returned home
After spending four years in Mali, Adeola, the daughter of actress Jumoke George, returned to Nigeria with the help of the government and compassionate individuals.
Her return stirred an outpouring of emotion on social media, with users expressing joy and gratitude. Many praised the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), as well as actresses Biola Adebayo and Niyi Johnson, for their key roles in reuniting Adeola with her mother and daughter.
NRTC WEEKLY learned that her absence first came to light when her mother tearfully revealed on the ‘Talk To B’ podcast that Adeola had disappeared.
Upon Adeola’s return, critics insisted that the incident should have served as a stark reminder for Nigerians to remain alert to the dangers of human trafficking and fraudulent overseas job offers.
NIDCOM Chairperson Abike Dabiri-Erewa also reiterated this call upon Adeola’s safe return.

Sports: UCL qualification battle intensified
The race for the 2025/2026 Champions League spot intensified as the Premier League’s newly expanded five-team qualification structure raised the stakes in the season’s final stages.
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that clubs now fought with added urgency, as the fifth slot—granted due to strong UEFA performances—turned every match into a do-or-die encounter.
Players from teams like Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Nottingham Forest faced enormous pressure.
Each training session and every tackle carried immense weight as clubs vied for the coveted European places.
The players constantly monitored rival results, knowing qualification offered not just prestige but also major financial rewards and the honour of competing at Europe’s highest level.
Politics: Mixed reactions trailed Tinubu’s 2027 endorsement
NRTC WEEKLY learnt that the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027 drew varied reactions from Nigerians, mirroring the country’s political and economic complexities.
Within APC circles and among his loyalists, the move came as no surprise and was largely welcomed.
However, Nigerians expressed concern, arguing that political discussions should take a back seat to pressing national issues. Critics said the nation needed to focus on recovery—not premature re-election strategies.
Some also condemned the ongoing coalition talks, noting that governors, National Assembly leaders, and the APC National Working Committee jointly endorsed Tinubu, a decision some found tone-deaf.
Citizens dealing with inflation, insecurity, and economic reforms voiced frustration, questioning why re-election plans were being made when the administration had not yet completed half of its current term.
Metro: Monalisa Stephen laid to rest
NRTC WEEKLY learnt that actress Monalisa Stephen, known as Gabacci, was buried in Lagos State following her sudden death last week.
The 34-year-old died from complications linked to low blood sugar and internal bleeding, though her family had yet to officially confirm the cause.
At her burial, emotional footage showed friends and loved ones gathered at a cemetery in Yaba, Lagos, to pay their final respects.
The videos captured poignant scenes of mourners at her graveside.
