Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has reacted strongly to viral claims suggesting that Fuji musician Obesere is her biological father, describing the reports as entirely false.
The rumour, which circulated widely on social media over the weekend, alleged that the actress had recently opened up about the claim after years of silence, even suggesting she became emotional while addressing it.
However, Debbie has now set the record straight. In a video posted on her Instagram page on Monday, she denied ever making such statements, stressing that she has never met Obesere in her life.
Addressing the controversy, she said, “It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father? Don’t I look like my father? Am I not my biological father’s replica?

“Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news! Stop writing or posting things I never said. Some commentators do not even think well enough to know that these things are fake; they start to throw abuses.
“I’ve never said or written this, nor did I cry out as they claimed. Please stop spreading false news. Bloggers should also post this video the same way they were quick to jump on that misconception,” she said.

She urged bloggers and social media users to verify information before sharing, noting the damage false narratives can cause.
