OpenAI will retire GPT-4 from ChatGPT on April 30, fully replacing it with GPT-4o, its faster, smarter successor.

Even though GPT-4 holds a key position in contemporary AI evolution its retirement will not affect customers substantially. According to OpenAI GPT-4o delivers better capabilities in programming, coding and STEM than its predecessor.

New upgrades delivered to the latest model version have enhanced its capabilities for instruction following and problem-solving and conversation flow.

The company describes the multimodal GPT-4o as the “natural successor” to the soon-to-be-retired GPT-4.

After April 30 users who utilize GPT-4 through APIs will continue to gain access to the model even though ChatGPT will remove the system.
