Osas Ighodaro: a brief biography


Osas Ighodaro is a Nigerian-American actress, model and producer. This post will walk you through her career, awards and personal life.

Personal life

Osas Ighodaro is originally from Edo state but she was born in Bronx, New York, United States. She was born Osariemen Martha Elizabeth Ighodaro. After winning the Miss Black USA Pageant in 2010, she founded The Joyful Joy Foundation, raising money to help roll back Malaria.

Her role in Tinsel as Adanna(Danni) is where most fans remember her from. It was also on the set of Tinsel that she met Gbenro Ajibade, who she later married  in 2015. In 2019, Gbenro confirmed their divorce in an interview . However, the two have refused to divulge anything about what led to the divorce. They share 5 year old daughter, Azariah Ajibade.

Osas has a degree in broadcasting journalism from Pennsylvania State University. She also has a Master’s degree in fine arts from The Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University. In 2012, Osas moved to Nigeria with the intention of staying 6 months. After securing movie roles, including one in Tinsel, she has since moved to Nigeria.

Career

Being in the entertainment industry, particularly Nollywood, was the next natural step for Osas given her modeling career. In 2021, she won Woman of the Year in Entertainment. In 2022, at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, she won Best Actress in A Drama for her role in “Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story. She also won Best Dressed Female at the AMVCA.

Some of her most recent works include: MTV Shuga, Rattlesnake, The bling lagosians, The Smart Money Woman, etc.

Given her excellent acting skills and stellar performances, Osas comes in as one of Nollywood’s finest actors.
