Politics: Oyebanji reappoints Titilayo Olayinka as accountant general
NRTC WEEKLY learnt that Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate reappointment of Titilayo Olarike Olayinka as the state’s Accountant General, barely 24 hours after she retired from the state civil service.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, announced the appointment in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Olayinka previously served as Accountant General and Permanent Secretary from November 28, 2019, until her retirement on August 24, 2026, after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Business/Economy: Okin Biscuits resumes production after 17 years
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Okin Biscuits has resumed production after 17 years, marking a significant step in the revival of the iconic Nigerian brand.
The company announced the development in a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, after one of its rehabilitated production lines at its factory in Offa, Kwara State, became operational.
“After 17 years… the line runs again,” the company said.
Okin Biscuits explained that the production line had undergone extensive reconstruction after several critical components, including cables, frequency drives, contactors, motors and other electronic parts, were stolen.

According to the company, the initial production was conducted as a technical trial rather than an attempt to produce biscuits for the market. The exercise was designed to establish whether the production line, which had remained inactive for 17 years, could be restored to operation.

NRTC WEEKLY reports that Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has questioned the decision of the Nigerian Bar Association to invite social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to speak at its annual conference.
Falana expressed his reservations during an interview with Channels Television on Thursday while discussing the backlash that followed VeryDarkMan’s participation in the NBA’s 66th Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt.

Falana argued that the NBA should select speakers based on their knowledge, professional background and direct experience of the issues they are invited to discuss. He maintained that the association’s conferences should primarily promote serious intellectual discussions among legal professionals rather than serve as entertainment platforms.
Entertainment: Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ dies at 66 after battle with cancer
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66.
The celebrated Yoruba actor reportedly died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after battling stage-four cancer.
His daughter, Kira Taiwo, confirmed his death during an emotional live session on Instagram, where she was seen in tears as she announced that her father had passed away.
The actor’s death came days after his family publicly disclosed the severity of his health condition and appealed for medical assistance.
Sports: Crisis hits Nigerian football as NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, other executive committee members resign
NRTC WEEKLY learnt that Ibrahim Musa Gusau has officially resigned as President of the Nigeria Football Federation alongside his executive committee board members, News Round The Clock can confirm.
This sensational departure follows relentless public outrage over the persistent poor performances of Nigeria’s national football teams.
The sudden resignation occurred barely one month before the scheduled NFF elective congress in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
However, the National Sports Commission (NSC) had already intervened to halt elections while considering establishing a normalisation committee.
