Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has commissioned 14 newly completed road projects across Osisioma, Aba North and Aba South Local Government Areas as his administration marked its third anniversary.
The governor also flagged off the first phase of the Aba Ring Road, a 4.9-kilometre strategic bypass expected to permanently decongest the commercial city.
The commissioned projects targeted major industrial and residential areas with heavy traffic movement.

Among the key projects was Geometric Road, which Otti said transformed from a neglected and impassable route into a thriving industrial corridor.
His administration also constructed Afule Road as a strategic bypass aimed at easing the persistent traffic congestion along the AbaโOwerri Road.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the governor said Aba continued to witness rapid transformation through deliberate investment in infrastructure.
โAba is rising. These projects reflect our unwavering commitment to reshaping the city and unlocking Abiaโs economic potential through quality infrastructure, complete with proper drainage systems and street lighting,โ he said.
Otti also inaugurated work on the Aba Ring Road under the Greater Aba Development Authority as part of efforts to advance the Greater Aba vision.

The project is expected to decongest the Aba metropolis, provide easier access for travellers heading to neighbouring Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, and stimulate development in underserved communities on the outskirts of the city.
The 14 roads commissioned included Aro AmanoโEke Aro Road, Adaelu Road, Geometric Road and Afule Road.
Others were Assemblies of God Church Road, Nwogu Ajagba Street, Nwala Street, Sacred Heart Street, Elizabeth Avenue, Nigerian Brewery Ring Road, Etche Road, Mosque Road, Crystal Park Road and Kingdom Hall Street.

The Commissioner for Works, Otumchere Oti, said the government executed the projects with durability in mind, using a combination of asphalt, concrete and stone-base technology to guarantee long-term usage.
