The family of Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has explained the real cause of the death of her son, Ayomikun, after different claims surfaced online.

The young man’s passing shocked the entertainment industry earlier in the week, with social media reports suggesting he died after slipping in a bathroom in the United Kingdom.

In a statement issued by family spokesperson, Yemi Amodu, on Friday, it was confirmed that Ayomikun died in Ibadan after a brief illness.

He was said to have received proper medical attention before his death and was later buried at Eternal Rest Home in the Oyo State capital.

The family dismissed the circulating reports of a bathroom accident, describing them as untrue and hurtful.

They urged the public to disregard the claims, adding that such stories cause more pain to his loved ones.

They also expressed appreciation for the prayers and support received since the tragedy, praying that no other family would face such an early and painful loss.

The statement read, “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle (son of Sunday and Peju Ogunmola Omobolanle), a jewel, a precious child, and a rising star whose light shone brightly and touched many lives.

“His departure is a profound loss to our family and to all who knew and loved him.

“We wish to clearly state that Sola did not pass away as a result of any bathroom accident, contrary to false reports being circulated online.

“He was briefly unwell and, during this period, received first-class medical care.

“Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he peacefully answered the call of his creator. He passed away at a hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria and has since been laid to rest at Eternal Rest Home.”

Ayomikun, the only child of Peju Ogunmola and her husband, Sunday Omobolanle, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
