Police arrest singer, Naira Marley over demise of Mohbad


Controversial Nigerian musician, Afeez Fashola who is better known as Naira Marley has been arrested by the Nigerian police following the unfortunate passing of 27-year-old singer-songwriter, Mohbad.

In September 12, the news of Mohbad’s passing shook the Nigerian public and also instigated questions among the populace due to the controversy pertaining to his demise.

Naira Marley, a music executive and founder of Marlians Record, former home to Mohbad was accused to being involved in the death of the singer-songwriter. As a matter of fact, Mohbad in a series of videos that surfaced online accused Naira Marley of assigning assailants to deal with him for choosing to leave the label in 2022.

On Tuesday, October 3, the Lagos State Police Command PRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin via his X handle confirmed the arrest of the controversial Marlians record founder.

He wrote,

ā€œAzeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activitiesā€¦#justice4Mohbad #justiceforMohbad.ā€

Police confirm arrest of controversial Marlians Record founder

Equally, this report is coming after the singer-songwriter and record executive announced his return to Nigeria via his X account.

He wrote, ā€œIā€™d like to share that Iā€™ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. Itā€™s important I do my part for Imole. Iā€™ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.ā€
