The Kano State Police Command has successfully prevented a violent clash between suspected rival ‘Yan Daba groups in the Gyadi-Gyadi area, leading to the arrest of six individuals.
In a statement released on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command disclosed that its officers acted swiftly to contain the situation, restoring calm and averting a deeper breakdown of law and order.
The incident reportedly occurred around 1:20 pm after authorities received an emergency alert indicating that suspected thugs were gathering for a confrontation in Gyadi-Gyadi Quarters. Police patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they encountered the groups already engaged in a violent clash.
During the unrest, an ambulance was damaged, and there were attempts to extend the violence to other locations.
“The thugs were promptly confronted by the police. However, they later regrouped and attacked police officers with dangerous weapons and stones,” the statement read.
