Politics: It will be too late for Peter Obi to contest 2027 on LP platform – Party chair

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the interim national chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi Usman, stated that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, may not be eligible to contest under its platform in the 2027 general election.

She attributed this to strict provisions in the Electoral Act governing membership registration and party primaries.

Speaking during an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, Usman explained that the party’s membership register would be officially closed 21 days before its primaries and subsequently submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), making late entries impossible.

She said, “Well it will be too late actually for him to come back because if you look at the act now, at some point we close the register.

“Once we close the register 21 days before primaries, submit the register, the e-register to INEC, you can’t come from behind the door for us to register you and for you to contest the elections. That would be impossible, legally impossible anyway.”

Entertainment: Mayowa drags ex husband Roby Ekpo to court over defamation

NRTC WEEKLY learnt a fresh dispute has broken out between Mayowa Lambe and her former partner Roby Ekpo, as she moves to take legal action over claims he made about their past relationship.

The issue came to public attention shortly after Mayowa tied the knot with another man in the United States, a development that surprised many who still believed she was married to Roby. The pair had their traditional wedding in November 2015, but they never openly announced any separation before news of her new marriage surfaced.

During a recent appearance on the The Honest Bunch podcast, Roby spoke about their time together and shared personal details about their marriage, including claims about their struggles with intimacy. He also accused Mayowa of secretly taking steps to avoid pregnancy without his knowledge.

In response, Mayowa did not directly engage with him publicly at first but shared posts on social media suggesting she was calm and comfortable with her choices.
