Pope Leo XIV Vows to “Speak Out Loudly” Against War Despite Trump Criticism

Pope Leo

Pope Leo XIV has reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out against war, declaring he is “not afraid” to raise his voice despite criticism from Donald Trump.

In a recent statement shared online, the pontiff emphasised that his message is rooted in the Gospel, not politics. He made it clear that he has “no intention” of engaging in personal disputes, but will continue to “speak out loudly” against conflict and violence.

The remarks come after Trump publicly criticised the Pope, calling him weak on key issues. Despite this, Leo doubled down on his stance, insisting that war does not bring peace and that faith calls for moral clarity in times of global tension.

This message aligns with the Pope’s broader position in recent weeks, where he has repeatedly condemned ongoing conflicts and urged world leaders to pursue dialogue over destruction. He has described war as “madness” and warned against the human cost, particularly for civilians.

Currently on an international trip to Algeria, Pope Leo continues to promote themes of peace, justice, and global solidarity. His stance reflects a growing effort by the Vatican to act as a moral voice amid rising geopolitical tensions.

Ultimately, the Pope’s message is clear: regardless of political pressure, he intends to keep advocating for peace and speaking out against war.
