Premier League Gameweek 11 Results


Premier League Gameweek 11 saw fans return to stadia in low numbers. This is a massive step forward in the journey back to normalcy, after the end of the second national lockdown in the United Kingdom.

The games keep coming thick and fast and in the blink of an eye, Premier League Gameweek 11 is over. Oladipupo Mojeed gives us a summary of last week’s fixtures.

Results of Saturday’s games

Burnley 1 – 1 Everton

Premier League gameweek 11 kicked of with a clash between Sean Dycheā€™s men and the Toffees at Turf Moor.

Robert Brady gave the hosts the lead after capitalizing on a loose pass from Allan, as he struck from distance.

Everton found it hard to grow into the game as Burnleyā€™s defensive blocks made it diffivult. An injury to Fabian Delph forced a change of shape which resulted in the Toffees playing much better. They were then rewarded with a Calvert -Lewin goal late in the first half.

The second half ended goalless as both keepers kept their teams in the game. The game could have swung either way and both teams would be happy with a point.

Manchester City 2 – 0 Fulham

Pep Guardiolaā€™s men got their second win in a row since their defeat to Tottenham. The Citizens started well and were rewarded with an early goal through Raheem Sterling.

Kevin De Bruyne set up the English winger to open scoring as early as the 5th minute. The Belgian later scored from the spot after Sterling was fell in the box.

Fulham were lucky not to have conceded more as the Citizens had complete dominance of the game.

West Ham United 1 – 3 Manchester United

Manchester United grabbed another away win with a victory over the Hammers at the London stadium.

The Red Devils had a poor start to the game and could have easily conceded more goals in the first half after West Ham’s opening goal.

United were lucky as their equaliser came against the run of play through Paul Pogba. The Frenchman received a backpass that seem to have crossed the line but the VAR failed to spot it. He then bent it into the top corner to bring United back into the game.

The Red Devils added 2 more goals from Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford to complete the comeback.

Chelsea 3 – 1 Leeds United

The Blues welcomed Leeds United to Stamford Bridge for Saturday’s last game.

The visitors took an early lead as ex-Chelsea player, Patrick Bamford put Leeds forward in the 4th minute.

Chelsea however grew into the game and leveled up before halftime as Olivier Giroud continued in his fine goal-scoring form.

Frank Lampardā€™s men took the lead in the second half as Kurt Zouma headed home a corner kick from Mason Mount.

Substitute Christian Pulisic sealed the game by scoring in added time.

Premier League GameWeek 11 – Sunday action

West Bromich Albion 1 – 5 Crystal Palace

We witnessed a different Palace side last weekend because of the return of Wilfred Zaha.

Scoring opened in the 8th minute as Darnell Furlong scored an own goal. The Baggies drew level as Conor Gallager scored in the second game in a row, with Furlong redeeming himself with an assist.

Hell broke loose after Matteus Pereira was sent off in the 34th minute. The Eagles took the opportunity to run by scoring 4 goals in the second half.

Zaha gave Palace the lead once again in the 55th minute while Christian Benteke extended the lead four minutes later. Both scored another goal each as they took the game out of the Baggiesā€™ reach.

Sheffield United 1 – 2 Leicester City

The Blades are in more trouble as they were unable to grab a win over the Foxes at Bramall Lane on Sunday.

Ayoze Perez opened the scoring in the 24th minute but Sheffield United leveled up soon after as John Lundstram set up Ollie McBurnie in the 26th minute.

Chris Wilderā€™s men tried to hold out for a draw but their hopes were dashed by Jamie Vardyā€™s late goal. This denied them a 2nd point in the season.

Tottenham Hotspur 2 – 0 Arsenal

Spurs continue their high-flying form as they sit top of the Premier League table. They came out victorious over their North London neighbour.

Heung-Min Son opened the score line in the 13th minute with a Ronaldo-esque strike from long range. He then set up Harry Kane late in the first half to extend Tottenhamā€™s lead.

Gunners were quite dominant in the second half but were unable to score and took nothing away from the encounter.

Liverpool 4 – 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

The effect of the home fans on the game at Anfield was unmissable as The Reds ran riot against Wolves on Sunday night.

Mohammed Salah capitalized on a defensive error to give Liverpool the lead in the first half. Gini Wijnaldrum scored a beauty in the second half to extend the lead.

Mohammed Salah sent in a beautiful cross into the box which Joel Matip converted quite easily. Trent Alexander Arnold also registered an assist from a dangerous ball into the box leading to an own goal.

Monday night action

Brighton & Hove Albion 1 – 2 Southampton

The Saints got back to winning ways after a 2-1 victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Monday.

The home side took the lead in the first half as Pascal Gross converted from the penalty spot in the 26th minute.

James Ward Prowse set up Jannik Vestergaard to draw the visitors level just before half time.

Substitute Danny Ings scored the winning goal from the penalty spot on his return from injury.
