Premier League: Week 10 Preview

The season has been exciting so far and there’s no doubt that Premier League Week 10 will be more of the same.

Big clashes are coming our way again. If this week follows the season’s trend, shocking results are bound to come.

Week 10 opener – Friday

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United

Crystal Palace and Newcastle United clash at Selhurst Park for the opening game of the weekend.

These two sides are reliant on players who might not be available for the clash. Wilfred Zaha in the case of Crystal Palace and Callum Wilson for Newcastle.

Crystal Palace has been in a slightly better form this season than Newcastle who sit 2 points below them.

Both teams will be desperate to get a win. However, the Eagles look more equipped to get a win in the fixture.

Premier League Week 10 – Saturday

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool

Graham Potter’s men finally got a second win of the season after a series of unlucky results.

They however suffered a blow last time out with Tariq Lamptey. The right-back is suspended for this game due to a red card which will definitely have an impact on them going forward.

Liverpool on the other hand showed the strength of their squad last weekend cruising past Leicester City despite their injury woes. They however have a boost with Mohammed Salah being back, featuring in their Champions League outing against Atalanta mid-week.

The Reds are the likely winners in this fixture. There’s a doubt if the Seagulls have enough arsenal on their frontline to hurt Liverpool’s defence.

Manchester City vs Burnley

Coming from a loss against Tottenham last weekend, Manchester City will be desperately looking for a win.

City seems to have a goal-scoring issue as they have recorded just ten goals this season so far. This is not the Pep Guardiola’s side we’re used to but the return of Sergio Aguero to fitness could help the alleviate the problem.

Burnley on the other hand, finally got their first win of the season last weekend. This is the first they have been out of the relegation zone this season and they need a good result in this fixture match to stay out of the relegation zone.

The return of James Tarkowski to their defence has given them a boost, keeping clean sheets in their last 2 games. Tarkowski’s partnership with Ben Mee is crucial if they are to get anything from this fixture.

Everton vs Leeds United

Carlo Ancelotti’s men got back to winning ways last weekend with their 3-2 victory over Fulham. The return of Richarlison has been a boost for them. James Rodrigues seems to be nearing his best again judging from his performance against Fulham.

The loss of Lucas Digne to injury would be a massive blow considering how important he is to their attack. The French defender provided 2 assists in the last game alone. They also seem quite open at the back as they’ve conceded quite a number of goals in recent games.

If a team can exploit Everton’s defensive weakness, its Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United. For a newly promoted side, they score a lot of goals with their exciting style of play.

Although they haven’t been great defensively, they’ve scored enough to win games and sit comfortably away from relegation.

This promises to be a high scoring game with Dominic Calvert-Lewin still on form and defensive weaknesses to exploit in both sides.

West Bromwich Albion vs Sheffield United

The bottom 2 teams on the table fight it out at the Hawthorns on Saturday evening.

Neither team has won a game this season and if they are to avoid relegation, this game must have a winner.

However the likelihood of a draw is very high as both teams play defensive games and lack the cutting edge to hurt each other.

West Brom might be happy with the draw as they have 3 points from three games, but a draw does the Blades no good.

Sunday Premier League action

Southampton vs Manchester United

The Saints will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 8 games.

Southampton’s duo Che Adams and Theo Walcott have stepped up in place of Danny Ings to provide the needed goals to earn them points and would look to add to their goal tally against a shaky United defense.

Following their 1-1 draw with Wolves, Southampton sits 5th place on the league table and are under no undue pressure.

On the other hand, the Red Devils are under a lot of pressure to win every game following their poor start to the season.

However, they have been on good form lately and recorded 3 wins from 3 games in all competitions.

January signing Bruno Fernades has been in flying form and would be their main attacking threat on Sunday. It’s now a matter of whether he can do enough to win United the game.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur

This is a Super Sunday clash between Frank Lampard and his former manager Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard has come out with a win from his team’s last 2 Premier League games. Chelsea have also been on very good form generally with an unbeaten run of 10 games in all competitions.

The return of new signing Kai Havertz is also a massive boost for the Blues.

Following Tottenham’s win over Manchester City last week, many are backing them for a title challenge this season.

The duo of Heung Min Son and Harry Kane prove game after game they could hurt any defense. They will look to increase their goal scoring tally against Frank Lampard’s men.

This match is definitely one to watch and the results will be an indicator as to who would be in the title challenge this season.

Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Arsenal have been on a poor form recently as they struggle to score goals from open play.

They’ve proven to be defensively solid this season but they’ve lacked the ability to hurt defenses. They were lucky to get a draw in their last game against Leeds United, especially after going down to 10 men.

A win at this time is crucial to reviving their season.

Wolves have had a similar season to Arsenal in that both teams have scored and conceded the same number of goals. However, they sit one point above the Gunners and look more dangerous going forward.

But with Arsenal’s defensive resilience, Raul Jimenez has to be more clinical than in their last game to get a win from the encounter.

Leicester City vs Fulham

Leicester City have the perfect fixture to get back to winning after crumbling at Anfield last weekend.

The Foxes have had a good start to the season and undoubtedly have the quality to come out of the fixture with a win.

Fulham have struggled this season and are sitting in the relegation zone with just one win so far. They however look a much better side in recent games; taking their chances and scoring their penalties would do them a lot of good.

Final Game of Premier League Week 10

West Ham United vs Aston Villa

A clash between Dean Smith’s and David Moyes’s men rounds up Premier League Week 10 on Monday night.

Both teams have been overachievers this season, stunning big sides along the way. Moyes’s men have been able to grind out results in Michail Antonio’s absence and his return would be a massive boost for the Hammers.

The Villains have shown great potential but have struggled for consistency in recent games. They are reliant on Jack Grealish to produce all the goods and he rarely fails them. New signing Ollie Watkins has also been in good form but West Ham’s defensive resilience might be too much for the duo to break down.

Both teams sit comfortably mid-table and this match is highly likely to yield a draw.
