“Prioritise good governance, rule of law” – Adeleke to political class

Ademola-Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has urged Nigeria’s political class, regardless of their current position, to prioritise the delivery of good governance to bolster citizens’ confidence in the democratic system.

The governor made the statement upon his return to the country following a brief medical check-up abroad.

“We are energised to continue the task of delivering on good governance. That is basically the whole essence of politicking. That is what I am committed to,” Adeleke declared.

He stressed that effective leadership demands strict adherence to the rule of law, accountability, and transparency.

Adeleke warned politicians against pursuing self-interest, emphasising that their focus must be exclusively on serving the public.

“We must serve only the interest of the people, not our selfish agenda,” the governor asserted.

He advocated for building consensus among politicians and insisted that any contest for power must remain within the confines of legal processes and the ultimate welfare of the citizens.

He further condemned any political action that adversely affects the populace, stating, “We must seek power to serve the people, not ourselves.”

Upon his arrival, the governor also reiterated his condolences to the people of Akinlalu.

He expressed confidence that the ongoing police investigation into the situation would be swiftly concluded, assuring the affected families that justice would be served.
