Rangers International FC stunned Remo Stars FC with a 1–0 victory in Abeokuta on November 13, 2025, ending the defending champions’ 57-game home unbeaten streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League since 2022.
Godwin Obaje struck in the 23rd minute, heading home from close range to score his fifth goal of the season and the 90th of his NPFL career. The forward’s decisive finish silenced the home crowd.
Remo Stars controlled early possession and created chances but couldn’t find a breakthrough. Rangers, disciplined in defense, absorbed the pressure and protected their narrow lead until the final whistle.
The defeat drops Remo Stars to 13th on the table with a -5 goal difference after 11 matches, while Rangers climb to fifth. The result further exposes Remo’s recent struggles as defending champions, despite snapping a five-game losing streak earlier in the week with a 2–1 win over El Kanemi Warriors.

Remo’s last home defeat came on May 28, 2022, against Kano Pillars (3–1). That streak, spanning league and cup fixtures, stood as one of the longest in NPFL history.
Coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s side made several substitutions in pursuit of an equalizer, but none could tilt the momentum. Rangers made one change, bringing on A. Oyowah for M. Gibson in the 59th minute, and held firm through five minutes of stoppage time in a clean, card-free encounter.
The shock result sent ripples across Nigerian football. The “Flying Antelopes” remain unbeaten in recent outings, their confidence soaring as they chase continental qualification.
For Remo Stars, the loss compounds a difficult stretch following their CAF Champions League exit, where they suffered a 5–1 defeat at home. Focus now turns squarely to regaining domestic form.
