Raul Jimenez delivered when Fulham needed him most, producing a clinical brace to halt their slide. The Mexican forward inspired a composed 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The win snapped a three-match league losing streak and restored belief in Marco Silva’s squad. More importantly, it lifted Fulham into the top half of the league standings.
After a cagey opening period, the breakthrough finally arrived when Jimenez peeled away from his marker to power home Alex Iwobi’s corner in the 54th minute.
The goal injected urgency into a previously flat contest. Sunderland struggled to regain their defensive shape under growing pressure.
Seven minutes later, drama returned when referee Craig Pawson consulted the pitchside monitor. He thereafter penalised Brian Brobbey for pulling Calvin Bassey’s shirt inside the box.
Jimenez stepped forward with confidence and calm authority as he sent Robin Roefs the wrong way, maintaining his flawless Premier League penalty record (13/13).
Sunderland refused to fold despite the setback. Dan Ballard surged forward and was brought down by Ryan Sessegnon to earn a penalty. Enzo le Fee responded emphatically, rifling his effort into the top corner. The strike revived home hopes of a possible comeback and stirred the crowd into life.
However, Fulham remained composed under pressure. Their structure and discipline prevented Sunderland from building sustained momentum. With five minutes remaining, Fulham struck on the counter. Harry Wilson raced clear before slipping a perfect pass to Super Eagles midfielder Iwobi.
The former Arsenal and Everton man lifted a delicate finish over Roefs for his first goal since December. That moment sealed Fulham’s first league double over Sunderland since 2002-03.

Jimenez’s contribution was decisive, yet not without controversy. He was fortunate to avoid a second booking after two clumsy challenges.
Nevertheless, his presence transformed a dull encounter into a commanding display. He now boasts 11 goals for club and country this season.
Fulham’s revival and Sunderland’s growing concerns
Fulham’s resurgence extended beyond their striker’s sharpness. Wilson continued his excellent run, adding another assist to his growing tally.
Since November, only Erling Haaland and Bruno Fernandes have more Premier League goal involvements. Wilson’s influence has quietly shaped Fulham’s attacking identity.
Silva, though, faced setbacks during the afternoon. Kevin departed with a muscle issue after replacing the injured Samuel Chukwueze.

Sunderland’s frustrations mounted as injuries disrupted their rhythm. Nordi Mukiele and Jocelin Ta Bi both exited before halftime.
Romaine Mundle missed a golden opportunity moments before Fulham’s opener. Later, Nilson Angulo saw an effort tipped over while chasing the game. The return of captain Granit Xhaka offered some encouragement. Yet Sunderland have now lost four of their last five league matches.
Fulham, meanwhile, host Tottenham next as confidence builds. Sunderland travel to Bournemouth searching for a response.
