READ: Preview of Premier League GameWeek 29

West Ham 3-3 Arsenal

This was expected to be the game of the week, and it lived up to expectation. The London derby produced a six-goal thriller with attacking football at its best.

The Hammers needed just 32 minutes to race into a three-goal lead at London Stadium through Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen, and Tomas Soucek, who touched in a Michail Antonio header.

But the Gunners made a historic comeback, which began with Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman reduced the deficit to two with a volley which took a deflection off Soucek just before the break.

Arsenal got the second when Craig Dawson turned in Calum Chambers’ cross in the 61st minute. Lacazette then got his brace when he rose highest to level the game late on after good work from Nicolas Pepe.

A defeat would have extended the gap between both sides and ended Arsenal’s hopes of qualifying for European competition through a top-six finish.

The Hammers remain in fifth, two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, while Arsenal move above Aston Villa into ninth.

Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur returned with a superb performance a few days after suffering a shocking exit from the Europa League in the hands of Dinamo Zagreb.

Harry Kane threading the ball neatly through to Lucas Moura before the Brazilian teed up Vinicius’ for his ninth goal in as many starts for Spurs in all competitions.

Spurs then sealed victory after struggling to find the much-needed second goal. Cash’s reckless tackle gifted Kane the opportunity to steal the points from the penalty spot

The victory reduced the gap between them and the team currently occupying the last Champions League spot, Chelsea.

Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 Newcastle United

Brighton eased their own relegation concerns as they moved six points clear of the Premier League’s bottom three. Goals from Leandro Trossard, Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay put them four points above the Magpies, who they defeated at the Amex Stadium.

Trossard put the hosts into the lead with a curled finish into the bottom corner in first-half stoppage time to reward their dominance. Welbeck doubled their lead with a sublime strike from outside the box six minutes after the restart.

Maupay then sealed it when he met Pascal Gross’s cross for his first goal in 10 league games midway through the second half.

The defeat leaves Steve Bruce’s men just two points above 18th-placed Fulham. They will however take solace in the fact that they do have a game in hand on the Cottagers.

Fulham 1-2 Leeds United

Fulham missed the chance to move out of the Premier League relegation zone with a third defeat in four games.

Their defeat came against a Leeds United side that has struggled to get a win in their last five games. Leeds had two goals disallowed in the first half but were undeterred to get a win at Craven Cottage.

The first goal disallowed was a Luke Ayling header ruled out by the video assistant referee. The second was when Raphinha was evidently offside before slotting home.

They eventually got into the lead through Patrick Bamford. The English striker smashed home at the near post from Jack Harrison’s cross to give Leeds the lead.

Fulham got back on level terms through Joachim Andersen. The defender volleyed in his first goal in English football, from Ademola Lookman‘s corner.

Just before the hour mark, Leeds scored the winner as Bamford fed Raphinha, who beat two defenders before poking home.

And those are the highlights from Premier League MatchDay 29. All action resumes after the international break.
