Rivers Police declare two Ahoada-East officials wanted over assault on council administrator

The Rivers State Police Command has declared two high-ranking officials of the Ahoada-East Local Government Area as wanted individuals.

The declaration comes amidst allegations of their direct involvement in a violent assault on the council’s Administrator, Goodluck Iheanachor.

The individuals identified by the police are Hector Ekeakita, who holds the position of Chief Security Officer, and Aloni Olodi, the Chief of Staff.

They are facing accusations of criminal conspiracy, theft, assault causing bodily harm, and attempted murder in connection with the incident.

According to a press statement released by Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers Police Command, the assault took place on June 20, 2025, at the council secretariat.

Reports indicate that Administrator Iheanachor was subjected to a beating by a group of approximately 30 assailants.

The suspects are alleged to have not only inflicted physical harm upon Iheanachor but also stolen his mobile phones and sensitive documents.

Furthermore, they are accused of coercing his signature under duress before absconding with both personal and official items from his office.

The police have confirmed that Iheanachor is currently receiving medical attention for the injuries he sustained during the attack.

Despite having received a formal invitation for questioning from the authorities, both Ekeakita and Olodi have reportedly failed to present themselves.

Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju declared them wanted.

The CP urged the two suspects to report without delay to the state police headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

Adepoju also issued a stern warning, stating that any individual found assisting or harboring the wanted officials would face prosecution.

Prior to being declared wanted, Hector Ekeakita had publicly denied any involvement in the assault on the administrator.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on June 23, Ekeakita questioned the accusations against him.

“I, as the chief security officer, how would I do that? How would I venture into carrying hoodlums to go and attack the man I’m working with? I was never found in the video.”

He provided his account of the event, explaining that he was in his office when he heard commotion and witnessed part of the incident, but was instructed not to intervene.

The alleged resignation of Administrator Iheanachor had previously sparked controversy after a distressing video circulated online.

The footage showed him visibly distressed, seated on the floor, while being repeatedly struck with canes.
