Chelsea’s struggles worsened with a humbling 3-0 defeat at Brighton, leaving head coach Liam Rosenior visibly frustrated.
The Blues conceded early and never recovered, extending their barren run alarmingly.
Brighton struck inside four minutes when Turkish defender Ferdi Kadioglu fired a low shot past Robert Sanchez after the visitors failed to deal with a corner.
Chelsea failed to respond, lacking urgency, cohesion, and attacking threat across both halves as Brighton dictated tempo from thereon.
The Seagulls added a second shortly after the restart when 21-year-old former academy player Jack Hinshelwood finished off a smooth counterattacking move.
The home side then sealed victory in stoppage time via substitute – and veteran – Danny Welbeck. The result means Chelsea slumped to a fifth consecutive league defeat without finding the back of the net.
Rosenior did not hide his disappointment, calling out the team’s basic failings. “In the basics, in the pride you should have in wearing the shirt, that was unacceptable,” he said.
He continued, “I’ve defended the players, and I am accountable. I’ve always said that.” However, he demanded reflection from the squad after a worrying display.

Rosenior highlighted poor duels and aerial weakness as decisive flaws in the loss. “We lost 80 per cent of duels. We didn’t win a header,” he added.
He contrasted the defeat with their spirited display against Manchester United days earlier – which also ended in a loss at the Stamford Bridge.

“Today was the complete opposite in every aspect,” he admitted.
Despite fan frustration, Rosenior remains focused on recovery and response. “I understand why the fans are frustrated,” he acknowledged.
Looking ahead, he stressed urgency before the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds. “We need to make the correct decisions… for a massive game on Sunday.”
