Philippe Coutinho has reunited with close friend and Brazil teammate Neymar by joining Santos FC until the season ends.

The 34-year-old midfielder was a free agent after leaving Vasco da Gama in February. Coutinho returned to Vasco in 2024, making 81 appearances before stepping away and stating he was “tired mentally”.

Santos welcomed him on social media with a nostalgic photo recreated alongside Neymar in the gym. The club also shared a video showing Coutinho entering the dressing room to embrace Neymar, remarking, “if it’s a dream, I don’t want to wake up”.

Historic club partnership formed at childhood home

Neymar returned to Santos last January, marking the first time the duo will play together at club level. Coutinho began at Vasco before joining Inter Milan, then moving to Liverpool in 2013 where he scored 54 goals.
