Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the design and procurement of two major road dualisation projects in the South-East.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Soludo described the approvals as a significant milestone, saying they reflected the President’s commitment to improving infrastructure in the region and addressing the long-standing effects of the Nigerian Civil War.
The governor said the projects would strengthen connectivity between the South-East, South-South and North-Central regions while boosting economic activities and easing transportation.

The approved projects include the dualisation of the approximately 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji Road, which links Anambra State with Kogi State, and the approximately 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube (Okigwe Junction) Road, which connects Anambra and Imo states to the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway through Abia State.
Soludo explained that the approvals followed a meeting he held with Tinubu on July 1.

He said the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, subsequently requested details of the strategic road projects they had discussed.
According to the governor, he submitted the technical details on Friday, July 3, and received confirmation on July 15 that the President had approved the design and procurement of the projects.
Soludo said the development underscored the importance of constructive engagement and collaboration across political divides to deliver meaningful projects that improve the lives of the people.

He also commended Umahi for acting swiftly on the request and praised Tinubu’s leadership, expressing confidence that history would remember him for his efforts to transform infrastructure and reshape the political and economic landscape of the South-East.
