The management of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) said it noticed misleading narratives on social media claiming that the student loan program is exclusively for federal institutions.

In a statement signed by its Media and Public Relations Lead, Nasir Ayitogo, NELFUND clarified that this information is incorrect.

“State institutions are unequivocally included in our student loan program by law. The program is designed to roll out in phases to ensure effective and efficient management of the process,” he said.

Mr. Ayitogo explained that the first phase will focus on students attending federal institutions. The second phase, to be launched shortly after the initial rollout, will extend the program to students at state institutions.
