Super Falcons Forward, Oparanozie apologises to Nigerians for missing penalty

Super Falcons forward, Desire Oparanozie, has sent an apology to Nigerians for not being able to convert her penalty into a goal at the ongoing 2023 Women’s World Cup jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. 

Oparanozie shared a picture of herself in tears via her Twitter handle to apologise to Nigerians.

Recall that Nigeria’s Super Falcons were defeated by England via penalty shootout in the Round of 16 on Monday morning.

After 0-0 at the end of extra time, England beat Nigeria 4-2 on penalties to reach the quarterfinals. 

Oparanozie wrote, “Sad day! Very disappointing to have lost through penalties, and even more disappointing not to have converted mine. And for this I deeply apologise..”
