Veteran journalist Temisan Okomi is dead.

Temisan Okomi, a respected voice in Nigerian sports media, has passed away after a short illness. The announcement was made by Classic FM, where he dedicated over a decade of service.

The station confirmed the sad news in a heartfelt statement shared on Friday. Colleagues and listeners alike have since paid tribute to his enduring impact on sports broadcasting.

“With the heaviest of hearts, we regret to announce the passing of one of our staff, Temisan Okomi, following a brief illness,” the statement reads.

“Until his passing, Temisan was the Group Head of the Sports Department. He was a valued member of our team whose contributions and presence will be deeply missed.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult time.”

A lasting legacy in Nigerian sports media and broadcasting excellence

Okomi built a distinguished career that spanned multiple platforms within Nigeria’s evolving media landscape. Notably, he worked with HiTV and Lagos Television, among others.

He joined Classic FM in 2014 and steadily rose to lead its sports department. His journey reflected passion and a deep love for storytelling through sport.

Although trained in Agronomy and Crop Science at the University of Uyo, he found his true calling in journalism. Over the years, he became a trusted and familiar voice to many listeners.
